Leaf Beet Perpetual Spinach (Award of Garden Merit)

Discover the versatility of Leaf Beet Perpetual Spinach Seeds, an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Although not a true spinach, this member of the beet family is used in the same way and is also known as Spinach Beet. It thrives in dry conditions without running to seed and is winter hardy, making it a reliable choice for year-round gardening. Producing a mass of mid-green leaves with thin stems, Perpetual Spinach offers good resistance to bolting in the first season. Note that these seeds can be slow to germinate, taking approximately 65 days to mature, but the wait is well worth it for a robust and bountiful crop.
Handy Tip: Treat like cut and come again Lettuce, regular cropping of young leaves encourages new growth. May benefit from being protected by fleece during cold temperatures.

Leaf Beet Rainbow Chard

Introduce a burst of colour to your vegetable garden with Rainbow Chard Seeds, a gardener's choice variety. Known scientifically as Beta vulgaris, Rainbow Chard features a lovely mix of red, orange, and yellow stems. The leaves can be harvested as baby leaf for salads or cooked to perfection when fully grown. This versatile vegetable is an excellent spinach replacement in various recipes, adding vibrant colour to your dishes. Though slow to bolt, Rainbow Chard will eventually reach heights of 45cm and spread 30-40cm wide, making it a beautiful and bountiful addition to your garden.
Handy Tip: Not just a pretty face but a highly nutritious vegetable, leaves can be used as spinach, lightly cook stem ribs and serve with butter.
