This hardy biennial produces an abundance of dark purple spears in March that turn green upon cooking. The plants grow to around 90cm tall and 60cm wide, thriving best in full sun. Handy Tip: Pick regularly when the spears are well formed but before they open. Take the central spear first to encourage a lot of side shoots.

Broccoli Purple Sprouting Claret F1

When to SowApril to May
Where to SowSow the seeds thinly in a well prepared seed bed. Recommended soil temperature: 15-18°C. Alternatively sow the seeds thinly in seed trays or two seeds per cell in modules under glass at 13°C. Position in full sun.
What to do NextOutdoor Sowings: Thin to 7-10cm apart. Transplant to final positions once plants are large enough. Glasshouse Seedlings: Prick off into trays or thin modules to one seedling per cell at first true leaves. Gradually harden off and plant out at 15cm (6") tall, spaced as above.
HarvestMarch to October the following year.
