Leek Giant Winter – Gardener's Choice

Experience the exceptional Leek Giant Winter, a top-tier late variety that produces heavy, thick stems capable of standing in the ground for extended periods. This versatile vegetable is perfect for hearty winter dishes. When sliced, boiled, and topped with a cheese sauce, leeks make a delicious side dish to complement any meal. Add the Leek Giant Winter to your garden and elevate your culinary creations.

Handy Tip: Water regularly during dry weather. Earth up the stems throughout the growing season to lengthen the blanched stem. For larger leeks, suitable for the kitchen or exhibition, increase plant spacing.

When to SowJanuary to February under glass or March to April outdoors
Where To SowFor early sowings, use pots or trays under glass and cover the seeds with compost or vermiculite. For outdoor sowings, sow seeds thinly in well-prepared soil. Water regularly, especially during dry periods.
What to Do NextOnce early sowings have germinated, transplant into individual pots and grow under glass until April. Then, move them to a cold frame to harden off before planting out at the recommended spacing. For outdoor sowings, carefully lift plants once they are large enough to handle, and transplant to the same spacing using a trowel or dibber, and water in.
