How to use a lawn dressings
Mow the lawn: Mowing shortens the grass and helps work the dressing into it later.
Spread the dressing: You can use a wheelbarrow and shovel for large lawns, or a bucket and trowel for small lawns. Spread the dressing in piles, then work it out with a rake or stiff brush. The dressing should be spread evenly and no more than 10 mm deep.
Work the dressing into the grass: Use the back of a rake or stiff brush to work the dressing into the grass. You can also use a landscaper rake, drag mat, or true lute.
Water the lawn: A light watering can help work the dressing into the lawn.
Let the lawn rest: Avoid mowing and heavy foot traffic for a few weeks to allow the grass to grow through the dressing.
You can apply lawn dressing when the grass is actively growing, such as in spring or autumn. Top dressing can help level the lawn, repair worn areas, improve drainage, and promote grass growth.
